Well, yesterday was Mother's Day, as you all know, and so my stashed-away Marisol got to come out and be with me! I also spent my allotted monthly AG money for the ballet outfit and the jazz outfit/trunk. I have some comments and questions.....

--Marisol: She is VERY cute! I love her a lot! At the same time, this is my first AG doll with the odd triangle piece in the cloth at the back of the neck. Does anyone know why that is there? It almost seems like some supplier made a mistake and had to cover their tracks that way, or something. Also, does anyone know why the bodies seem to be getting slimmer and have flatter butts? Are all the recently-made dolls that way--or is it only the newer AGOT dolls that are that way? If all the dolls are this way, I am sad about that because the flatter butt affects their appearance (looks odd to me), and because the flatter butt makes it harder for them to sit.

Ballet outfit--Very CUTE! Love it! I also have a question about the skirt. Is it supposed to be very wrinkled like that? Both boxes that I looked in had skirts that way. I tried steaming it, and it didn't seem to make much difference, if any. So I'm thinking that maybe it's supposed to be that way, but it's not that way in the catalog, so I'm confused.

Leg warmers--Which end goes by the knees and which end goes by the ankles? My natural instinct was to put the narrower end (with the ribbing) by the ankles, but the picture showed the ribbing end to be up by the knees, so I put it that way, but I hated to stretch out the narrower end that way. What do you-all think?

The trunk--Seems very well made and incredibly cute to me! I loved packing all her dance things in there, plus some other AGOT dance things that I had already.

The jazz outfit--Seems very cute and well-made, to me. I found a split in one seam, on the top, but I will ask at AGPC, and I'm sure that they will help me replace it. I especially love the shoes!

I found that all of the new AGs for sale at AGPNY were anorexic looking compared to my 1993 Addy. Even the sales lady thought my Addy looked heavy and when she picked Addy up, she said Addy felt different than the newer ones, so I think they are ALL like that.

Happy Mother's Day and congrats on Marisol!

Thank you for the review.
I have decided that I have reached my doll limit, yet Marisol continues to tempt me. I have always loved to dance so a dancing doll is my dream doll. I gave hints to my family, but it is my birthday today and the presents are all too small to be Marisol. Maybe I will get her for Christmas if she sticks around that long.

I'm so glad you were pretty pleased with your new Marisol, Joy! I must agree with you- she really is terribly adorable. Sounds like a great Mother's Day gift!

I noticed the skinnier bodies when I got Addy for Christmas last winter. Her clothes look downright baggy. But that might be because I got her christmas dress, work dress, and patriotic dress back in the 90s. Does anyone else have this problem? I ordered her undies last week to help fill her out a bit. Lissie's dresses on the other hand fit perfectly. But I can tell a distinct difference between their bodies.

I'm glad you could finally open Marisol, Joy. I think she is a very pretty doll, and I'm glad I have her finally. I hope you enjoy her as much as I do mine.

What a wonderful Mothers Day gift! Congratulations!

I don't have the clothing items you are asking about, but I do have Marisol. And, yes, the new dolls are more slim than the old ones.

I have two pre-Mattel dolls that are chubbier than the newer dolls, but I do think that some of the newer dolls are slimmer than others. My daughter has an AGT 21 that she got at AGPNY last spring who is very slim. She also has an AGT 3 that we ordered from AG in January who is definitely chubbier than her AGT 21. I like them with a bit more chub! We hand picked her AGT 21, but we were looking at the hair, face, etc. We didn't even think to check out her body.

My update: Because of personal preference, I tried ironing the skirt, using the lowest temperature on the iron that has steam. That worked out well. I did take more care around the area of the glued-on jewels, because I didn't want to melt the glue or make the jewels fall off, so that area is a bit more wrinkled. The skirt now looks more like it does in the catalog, but I'm undecided about which look I like better.
